Description

Poplars Farmhouse is a late 18th-century farmhouse built of light red brick with a pantiled roof and end and ridge stacks. The two-story, three-bay facade is irregular in appearance. The mid-19th century features sash windows with cambered brick arches and side margins. A four-panel door is set within a wooden doorcase featuring pilasters and a modified entablature, topped with an oblong fanlight. To the left is a slightly lower attached barn of similar materials, and an east range of one story, which originally included a horse-engine house, though only the beam from the machinery remains. The rear elevation displays brickwork of an older type, suggesting a possible 17th-century origin, although nothing definitively pre-18th century is visible in the interior.
