Description

The Dene Cottage is a 17th-century cottage that was altered in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of rubble with roughly-shaped large quoins and dressings, and has a pantile roof with brick stacks. The cottage is one and a half storeys high, with a single bay. A six-panel door is located on the left side. It has margined sash windows in enlarged earlier openings, with an upper window in a gabled half dormer. The right end of the building features raised reverse-stepped coping, and the end stacks, the one on the left rebuilt in the 19th century. The cottage is included on the list for its group value with Primrose Cottage and was empty and in poor condition at the time of survey. A two-bay brick extension to the left is not considered to be of special interest.
