Description
The Watch House on Rocky Island was built around 1876 for the Seaton Sluice Voluntary Life Saving Company. It is constructed of brick, which is rendered and whitewashed, and features a 20th-century synthetic roof covering. The building is rectangular in shape with a small projecting tower at the south end.
The east elevation has one storey and consists of two bays, with a chamfered plinth and boarded window openings that have slightly projecting sills. The gables are coped. The lookout tower is located at the left end and has paired two-pane casement windows on each face, topped with a pyramidal roof. At the rear of the tower, there is a pent porch with a renewed door. The right return of the building shows a boarded window.
This structure is included for its historical interest.
