Description
The King's Arms Hotel, with a coach house to the east, is an inn that likely dates back to the early 18th century. It is constructed from roughly-squared stone and is colour-washed, featuring a blue slate roof with 20th-century brick stacks and pantiles on the garage at the rear. The building stands three storeys tall and has three wide bays. The central doorway is set within a 20th-century brick porch and is flanked by renewed windows in old openings that have irregular-block surrounds. Above, there are 4-pane sash windows in similar surrounds. To the right of the central bay, there are inserted windows on the ground and first floors. The building has end stacks. The left side reveals the coach house at the far left, which has boarded double doors under a segmental arch, along with similar doors in the pent garage to the right.
In the 19th century, the coach house served as the H.M. Coastguard station. The flat-roofed 20th-century extensions at the rear of the hotel are not considered of special interest.
