Description

The Gillespy headstone, located 3 metres south of the Church of St. Mary, dates back to 1744. It is made of sandstone and features a shaped top with a relief carving of a central death's head above a self-swallowing serpent, accompanied by a riband and flanking foliage scrolls. Below the carving, there is an inscription dedicated to William Gillespy of Shotton.
