Description
The building is a barn and workshop that adjoins Glenwhelt Cottage, dating from the late 18th century and early 19th century. It is constructed of squared rubble with stone dressings. The barn features a stone-flagged roof, while the workshop has a corrugated-asbestos roof and a stone chimney topped with brick. The barn is located at the rear of the cottage, with the workshop on the right side.
The barn is two stories high with two bays, featuring two replaced doors and a first-floor loading bay set in flush surrounds with alternating jambs at the rear. It has a steeply-pitched roof with coping at the junction. The workshop is also two stories, with three bays. The front, which faces the main road, has two doorways with alternating jambs, flanked by lean-to stone sheds, one of which has a stone-flagged roof. The workshop also has a steeply-pitched roof with a chimney on the right side rising through the front pitch and altered openings at the rear. The barn retains a pair of upper crucks. This building is included for its group value.
