Description
The henhouse and dovecote, located approximately 20 yards east of East Shaftoe Hall, dates from the 18th century. It is constructed of random rubble and features a stone slate roof. The building is two storeys high and consists of one bay. On the gable end, there are outside stone steps leading to a boarded door, which has blocked pigeon holes on either side and above. There is also a door to the henhouse at the rear. On the left side, there is a small domed recess with an incised decorative surround, which is said to have come from the former Shaftoe Church.
