Description
Nos 16 to 20 on Fore Street is a mid-19th century building front attached to an earlier house. It has three storeys and four windows, constructed from ashlar with quoins and kneelers at the roof verges. The building features late sash windows with eared architraves and bracketed cills, along with brick chimneys. It is primarily listed for its impressive early 20th century shop fascia, which showcases ornate and elaborate carved woodwork by the Belgian refugee M. Cullmans, who also restored the remarkable font cover in St. Andrew's Church. At the rear, there are long ranges of mainly stone buildings. Nos 14 to 30 form a group with this property.
