Description

This is a late 18th and early 19th century barn with a mid-19th century gingang, located north-east of Thropton Demesne Farmhouse. The barn is constructed of squared stone and rubble, while the gingang is built of rock-faced stone, both with Welsh slate roofs. The building follows an L-shape, with the gingang situated on the north side.

The south elevation of the barn features two boarded doors and a 20-pane sash window. A projecting section to the right has two slatted loft windows on its return. The barn has coped gables. The north elevation includes a stable door, a boarded door, and the gingang itself. The circular gingang features five stepped piers, with those on the east and west sides being particularly large, and is capped with a conical roof.

Inside the gingang, the roof has a central octagonal post with radial ties and raking struts supporting two levels of curved purlins. Adjacent farm buildings to the south-east and west are not of group value.
