Description

Number 20, including its shop and post office, is an early 18th-century house with a shop front. The front was remodelled in the early 19th century, a rear wing was added around the same time, and the shop fronts likely date to the mid-19th century. The front is built of squared stone with a plinth, returns and large, coursed rubble at the rear. The roof is covered in Welsh slate.

The house has two storeys and five bays. A plinth and ground floor sill band are visible. Three steps lead up to a boarded front door located in the second bay, flanked by three-pane shop fronts. The shop fronts originally had no glazing but retain old roller shutters. Pilasters with moulded capitals and bases and moulded cornices feature on either side of the entrance. Five steps lead to a vertical-panelled door in the fourth bay. The windows are 12-pane sashes. The roof has a raised, reverse-stepped gable coping and a corniced stack on the right end, with a rendered addition to its height. Small attic windows are visible on the returns. A wing to the rear on the right side has a range of sash windows.
