Description
The Collingwood and Scott headstones, dating from the 18th century, are located 15 metres south-west of the Church of St. Cuthbert in Bedlington. They are made of sandstone. The eastern headstone features a shaped top with a sunk panel and a cherub above the inscription dedicated to William Scott of Choppington, dated 1759. The western headstone displays a relief carved panel depicting a trumpeting cherub holding a palm amidst clouds, flanked by scroll-like foliage and partly concealed mortality emblems. This stone is inscribed to Elizabeth, the wife of William Collingwood of Bluehouse, dated 1787.
