Description

This is a headstone located approximately 20 yards southwest of the Church of St. Mary in Morpeth. It dates from around 1730 and commemorates Thomas Bell. The headstone is made of small sandstone and features a segmental pedimented top. The east side has an inscription, while the reverse displays carved Ionic columns adorned with foliage and a prominent high relief carving of a boy holding a snake. Above the boy are the words "memento mori."
