Description
This pair of table tombs, dating from the 18th century, is located 7 metres south of the Church of St. Nicholas in Cramlington Village. They are made of sandstone. The eastern tomb features a lozenge-shaped shield with a relief carving and an inscription dedicated to Michael Dunford, who died in 1726, and Catherine Errington, the widow of Lancelot Errington of West Denton, one of the heirs of George Errington of Benwell. It stands on four simple square legs. The western tomb has a fluted edge adorned with carved flowers, an achievement in a roundel, and an inscription for Cuthbert and Hannah Turnbull, who died in 1778. This tomb is supported by six carved and moulded urn legs. At the time of the survey, the legs were laid recumbent beneath the slabs.
