Description
The icehouse located 100 metres north-east of Seaton Delaval Hall is likely from the 18th century. Its front wall is made of squared stone, while the internal walls are constructed of brick with a cavity. The front features a boarded door set under a round arch and a truncated semicircular gable, while the other walls are concealed by an earth mound. The interior, which was not accessible during the survey, is reported to include an arched passage leading to a circular domed ice chamber with a tapering floor well.
