Description

The Softley and Brown headstones, located approximately 3 yards south of the Church of St. Mary in Morpeth, are notable 18th and 17th century memorials.

The first headstone commemorates Thomas Softley, who died in 1761. It is made of sandstone and features an elaborately-shaped top that is intricately carved with scrolls, two cherubs, and a crown.

The second headstone honors Roger Brown, who passed away in 1726. This sandstone headstone also has an elaborately-shaped top, adorned with a crown and Baroque scrolls.
