Description
This is an armorial headstone, likely from the mid 18th century, made of sandstone. It features the top half of a headstone that is set into the ground and supported at the back by two elaborately designed stone consoles. The headstone is prominently adorned with a boldly carved Achievement of Arms, which includes a shield topped with a visored helmet and a hand holding a cudgel. There is also some illegible lettering on a narrow border swag. It is located 20 meters southeast of the Church of the Holy Cross in Haltwhistle Market Place.
