Description
The Robinson gravestone, located 3 meters south of the Church of St. Mary and St. Patrick, dates from 1729 and is made of sandstone. It features a semi-circular head, with an inscription on the east face dedicated to Elizabeth, the wife of John Robinson of Knopesfold in the parish of Lanercost. The reverse side displays a coat of arms featuring three stags, flanked by palm trees, with a stylised angel above and a semi-circular pediment supported by pilasters. The rounded edge of the stone has an additional inscription that is partly obscured by lichen.
