Description
Armstrong Cottages is a row of six cottages built in 1894 for the workmen brought in by Lord Armstrong to restore Bamburgh Castle. The cottages feature wood boarding painted dark green with white trim and have a Welsh slate roof with brick chimneys. They are single storey and consist of 11 bays. The doors and windows are boarded, with small-paned upper sashes and plate glass lower sashes. Three of the canted bays have cross gables supported by curved struts at the corners. The end bays are cross-gabled with bargeboards and are linked by open-work timber framing. The roof is hipped and has eight ridge stacks topped with tall, patterned terracotta chimney pots. The cottages are noted for their social and historical interest.
