Description
15 and 16 Armstrong Cottages are two cottages built in 1894 for the workmen who were brought in to restore Bamburgh Castle for Lord Armstrong. The cottages feature wood boarding painted dark green with white trim and have a Welsh slate roof with brick chimneys. They are semi-detached and single storey, consisting of 8 bays. The boarded doors are located in the 3rd and 6th bays. The windows have small-paned upper sashes and plate-glass lower sashes. The outer bays are cross-gabled with bargeboards that are linked by open-work timber framing. The roof is hipped and there are three ridge stacks topped with tall patterned terracotta chimney pots. These cottages are included for their social and historical interest.
