Description
This cattle shelter, also known as a field hemel, was built in 1816 for G. & R. Turnbull and is located approximately 400 yards southeast of East House. It is constructed from dressed stone and features a pantiled roof. The structure is single-storey and consists of three bays, each with three segmental arches. The central voussoirs of the middle arch are inscribed with "G & R T 1816."
Inside, the original roof timbers include collar-beam trusses and two rows of purlins. The right end of the shelter is enclosed with a boarded door, indicating it was likely used as a feed store.
