Description
The entrance screen wall and piers at Mitford Hall date from the early 19th century. It is constructed from tooled-and-margined stone with ashlar dressings. The gatepiers feature moulded bases and low pyramidal caps, and they are flanked by six smaller but similar piers that are connected by a dwarf wall with moulded coping. At each end, there are taller quadrant walls with moulded plinths and coping, positioned between the larger piers that have moulded friezes beneath their low pyramidal caps. Additionally, there is a short wall at the far right alongside the road, which leads to a similar end pier.
