Description
The stable block, located approximately 200 yards south-west of Lorbottle Hall, dates from the 18th century and was remodelled in the early 19th century. It is constructed of dressed stone and features a Welsh slate roof, forming an L-plan structure with two storeys and a single-storey addition to the left.
The main block has a five-bay front, with a central boarded door set in an alternating-block surround. There are 16-pane sash windows in slightly-chamfered alternating-block surrounds. On the first floor, there are nine slatted windows for the granary, and remnants of blocked earlier openings can be seen.
The roof is steeply pitched with reverse-stepped gables. On the right side, there are external stone steps leading to the granary and a high segmental-arched doorway that provides access to the carriage house.
