Description
The Leaping Salmon is a public house located at No 8 Golden Square, originally built in 1798 as an elementary school for boys who would later attend the Grammar School for further education. The building is constructed of stucco and features a stone cornice and quoins, along with scroll kneelers. The front elevation facing Bank Hill includes an inscribed datestone and four 24-paned sash windows on each of its two floors. The rear wing, which is in an L shape, has five sash windows on each floor that overlook the Presbyterian Church. The gable end facing Golden Square has two sash windows on each floor, plus an additional small sash window above a boarded door.
