Description

The Foggan headstone, located approximately 10 yards south of the Church of St. Bartholomew in Whittingham Village, is a Grade II listed structure dating from 1729. This headstone commemorates James Foggan of Shawdon and is made of sandstone, standing about 2 feet high. It features a scrolled pedimented top that frames an angel, a sand timer, and bones. The inscription is bordered by fluted pilasters.
