Description

The bridge over the Devil's Water, built in 1788 by Robert Mylne, is a notable structure that was widened to the north in 1911. It is constructed of squared stone with cut dressings, and the soffit is partly made of brick. On the south side, the bridge features two segmental arches with arch rings, separated by a pilaster buttress that springs from a triangular cutwater. There is a band below the parapet, which has gabled coping and corbelled-out end pilasters topped with low pyramidal caps. The north elevation is similar to the south but lacks arch rings and has full-height flanking pilasters.
