Description

The Collingwood headstone, located approximately 2 yards south of the Church of St. Bartholomew in Whittingham Village, dates from the early to mid-18th century. This headstone commemorates Robert, William, and Elizabeth, children of William Collingwood. It is made of sandstone and stands about 3 feet high, featuring a scrolled pedimented top. The reverse side displays a bold and primitive skull and crossbones, along with the inscription "memento mori."
