Description
The upper terrace to the south of Howick Hall is a Grade II listed structure built in 1809 by architect James Wyatt. This terrace is made of ashlar and cut stone and features a rectangular plan that is slightly wider than the south front of the Hall. The south side of the terrace has a central section and ends that are set forward. Each side of the terrace includes a central flight of moulded steps, which are flanked by panelled piers. The handrails and terrace walls are adorned with square-section shaped balusters and low-pitched moulded coping. Additionally, gadrooned urns and vases are placed on the piers, enhancing the terrace's decorative elements.
