Description
This building is a fish and chip shop that is attached to the left side of the Red Lion Hotel. It dates from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with some alterations and additions made in the 19th century. The structure is made of rendered masonry and features a Welsh slate roof with a stone chimney stack. It has two storeys and two windows.
On the left side, there is a replaced four-panel door set in a raised surround with alternating jambs, and a horse-tethering ring on the right jamb. To the right, there is a glazed 19th-century shop front with a set-back door and three panes under elliptical-arched heads. The windows are two- and three-light designs with replaced casements, located just below the eaves. The roof has slightly-swept eaves and a rendered top section on the right end stack. There is also a late 19th-century two-storey, two-bay wing at the right rear.
Inside, the building features two pairs of upper crucks with prominent elbows, which are halved and pegged into the ceiling beams. This building is included for its group value with the surrounding structures.
