Description
The Roman coffin located in the grounds of the Dorman Memorial Museum is made of roughly-hewn limestone and rests on two mid-20th century stone benches. The coffin is tapered with a chamfered lid, measuring approximately 212 centimeters long, 94 centimeters wide, and 82 centimeters high. It was discovered during ironstone quarrying operations by Cargo Fleet Iron Co. Ltd. in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, and was presented to the Dorman Memorial Museum in 1927.
