Description

The water pump located 20 metres south of number 12 on High Road in Redworth is a mid-19th century structure made of cast iron. It stands 1.3 metres tall and features an elaborately detailed cylindrical design. The stem includes three necking bands and a small relief of a rampant lion. The wider fluted head has a front spout with a curved-down nozzle and a stop for the bucket handle. It also has an S-curved side handle with a ball grip and an enriched domical cap topped with a spike finial. This pump is an elaborate and well-preserved example of its kind.
