Description
This manor house, likely of medieval origin, has undergone significant alterations in the 18th century and 19th century. A rear wing features a door lintel dated 1730 or 1750. The building is constructed of painted, coursed rubble with an imitation stone-tiled roof and brick chimney stacks. Its original design was L-shaped, with a further outshut forming an internal angle. Originally a single-story structure, it now presents a two-story, three-bay facade. The ground-floor walls are exceptionally thick, measuring 1.75 metres, with roughly shaped quoins. The later first-floor walls step back and employ alternating quoins. A central entrance features a boarded-over six-panel door with a two-pane overlight, flanked by two-light casements set within enlarged openings. Above, three four-pane sashes are present, with the original intermediate glazing bars removed. The steeply pitched roof has swept eaves, coped gables and shaped kneelers. Rebuilt chimney stacks are at the ends of the building. A 12-pane horizontal-sliding sash is set high on the left return, and the one-story outshut features a similar 12-pane sash with a pent roof.
