Description

The South Garden Wall and Piers of Butler House and The Rectory is a fairly tall wall made of light red brick, featuring sloped buttresses. The lower section dates from the 18th century, while the upper part is from the 19th century or later. The wall is primarily constructed with stretcher courses and extends from the west end of the property to the front range of Butler House. To the east of the wall, there are four 18th-century red brick piers and a stone-coped gate pier. Between these piers, low brick walls, mostly from the later 19th century, are topped with a modern wooden fence, which replaces the original barrier. The structure is included partly for its group value.
