Description

Ebchester Bridge is a bridge dated 1862, located over the Consett River Derwent. It is constructed from rock-faced sandstone and features three round arches, with the central arch being higher than the others. Steeply-coped pointed cutwaters are positioned between the arches, supporting a high-centred road that has a bed-level band. The parapet has chamfered coping that continues with the rectangular end piers and sweeps out at both ends. Although it originally carried the main road, it now serves as a footbridge. The bridge is partly situated in the parish of Shotley Low Quarter, Northumberland.
