Kitchen Garden Wall and Garden House at St Cuthbert's College, Ushaw

The kitchen garden wall and garden house at St Cuthbert's College, Ushaw, were built in 1864, as indicated by the date above the door. The structure features coursed sandstone rubble with ashlar copings and dressings, while the roof of the garden house is made of large Welsh slates.

The garden wall has a rectangular plan, with the west wall connected to a ball court. This west wall includes a chamfered segmental vehicle entrance with double boarded doors, and there is a low-relief date panel above the arch. To the right, there is a pedestrian door styled similarly. The flat stone coping tops this wall, while the other walls feature roll-moulded coping.

At the north-west corner, the garden house stands two storeys tall and consists of one bay. It has a doorway in the east wall and cross windows with glazing bars facing the garden. Similar windows are present in half-dormers under a high pyramidal roof, which has a north chimney and a lead finial. The interior of the garden house has not been inspected.
