Description

This is a Durham County Council marker stone, likely dating from the early 19th century. It is a square-section sandstone block, approximately half a metre high, with rounded edges. The letters "Co D" are incised on the side facing the road, although they are partly eroded. This marker probably indicates the County's responsibility for a section of road that runs over a conduit to a former reservoir located opposite.
