Description
This is a garden wall with bee boles and an earth closet, dating from the early 19th century, located north of Viewly Grange farmhouse. It is constructed from sandstone rubble with large quoins and ashlar dressings. The wall is L-shaped and high, continuing the line of the house and returning along the garden boundary. The former earth closet is situated at the end farthest from the house and features a pantiled roof. There are flat stone lintels above a boarded door that aligns with the house, as well as a similar door for the earth closet. A row of five rectangular bee boles, now blocked and with some sill stones removed, is set into the center of the long wall, with a large block at the foot of each outer jamb. Behind the wall, there is a pent roof over the earth closet, although the fittings have been removed.
