Description
This is a barn dating from the late 18th century, located adjacent to the north gable of Low Harperley Farmhouse. It is constructed of sandstone rubble with quoins and ashlar dressings, topped with a stone-flagged roof featuring gable copings. The barn is two storeys high and possibly consists of five bays. It has irregularly shaped quoins, some of which are quite large, and a flat stone lintel above a high two-light opening at the right end. The gable copings are supported by curved kneelers.
On the left side, which projects from the right wing of the farmhouse, there is a flat stone lintel over a boarded door, a small light to the left, and a square pitching hole above. Additionally, there is a triangular owl-hole with a stone shelf at the peak of the gable. The rear elevation features stone side steps leading to a central first-floor door and slit vents.
