Description
This field barn and dovecote, located about 100 metres south of Newhouse, dates from the late 18th century. It is constructed of thin sandstone rubble with ashlar quoins and features a stone-flagged roof with a stone ridge. The building has two storeys and three bays. There are thin wood lintels above a boarded door located to the left of centre, flanked by windows that contain some glazing bars. The upper section is blank. The left return gable has a long flight of side stone steps leading to a first-floor boarded door, which is situated under a thin stone lintel. Additionally, there are five graduated rows of pigeon holes in the peak of the gable.
