Description

Neville's Cross is a medieval cross erected to commemorate the battle of Neville's Cross that took place on October 17th, 1346. It is made of sandstone and stands about one metre high, though it is much eroded. The cross is set in a socket with wide chamfered corners, and on two of these corners, there are eroded beast's heads positioned on the curve of the chamfer stop. The base of the cross is wide and features a hatched chamfer. This structure is recognized as a scheduled ancient monument.
