Description

The Thompson tomb, located approximately 8 metres west of the Church of St. Mary and St. Stephen, is a headstone dating from around 1712. It features a square slab that stands about 60 cm high, with a shallow moulded frame. The inscription reads 'Jahn ye wife/of Step Thompson Dyed Nov ye/12 1712', and there is a low-relief heart above the inscription. The name 'Jahn' may be a phonetic representation of Jane.
