Description

WOLSINGHAM CHURCH LANE NZ 0737 (North end) Wolsingham 39/349 Aisley tomb c. 4 metres south of porch of Church of St. Mary and St. Stephen GV II

Chest tomb. Late Cl7. Commemorates Robert Aisley died 1663 and his daughter Jane died 1697; erected by her son John. Sandstone slabs, the top moulded and the sides carved to imitate chamfered masonry blocks with alternate patterns of circles and rectangles. Latin inscription to Robert, 'pius, prudens, pacificus'.
