Description
Mount Oswald, originally a house and now the City Golf Club clubhouse, dates from around 1830 and incorporates an earlier building. It is constructed of sandstone ashlar with a Lakeland slate roof. The building is arranged in an L-plan and features two storeys and attics, with a total of 14 bays, of which the central six project. The end bays and each of the central four bays are defined by giant Tuscan pilasters. The windows are sash with glazing bars set in plain reveals, and there is a sill band at the first floor level, along with a band at the first floor level. The top entablature has a prominent cornice below the parapet. The low-pitched roof includes a central inserted attic with two square-headed windows, and there are rendered chimneys at the rear. A Tuscan porch leads to a half-glazed door at the rear.
