Description
Rectory Terrace, located on the north side of Shincliffe High Street, is a house that has been divided into two dwellings. It dates from the early 18th century and features some 19th-century alterations. The building is finished with painted, incised render over a mix of rubble and brick. It has a Welsh slate roof adorned with brick chimney stacks. The structure is two storeys high and consists of three bays.
The central entrance has a pair of replaced doors with three-pane overlights, while the doorway to No. 1 on the right is a later addition. The outer bays feature small canted bay windows, which have replaced sashes and hipped roofs. Above, there are three replaced sashes. The roof is steeply pitched with swept eaves, and the end stacks have been partly rebuilt. There is a rendered band and a boarded attic window on the right side of the building. The late 19th to early 20th-century rear additions are not considered of special interest.
