Description
Tursdale House is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, which has undergone significant alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of coursed sandstone rubble and features a Welsh slate roof with rebuilt brick chimney stacks. The building has an altered hearth-passage plan and stands two storeys tall with five bays, characterized by roughly-squared alternating quoins. To the left of the centre, there is a partly-glazed four-panel door with a narrow four-pane overlight in a rendered surround. The original sashes have been replaced, with paired windows on the ground floor set in 19th and 20th-century openings, some featuring concrete sills and lintels. The eaves were raised in the 19th century, and the roof is steeply pitched with reverse-stepped gables, end and ridge stacks, and stepped external chimneys on both returns, with the upper section of the right chimney rebuilt in brick. A one-storey lean-to has been added to the rear. The interior was refitted in the late 19th to early 20th centuries. There is a 20th-century farm building to the right and a 20th-century two-storey wing at the rear, which are not of interest.
