Description

Jarrow Bridge is a bridge located on Don Road in Jarrow. It was repaired between 1781 and 1783 by the mason William Allison and was widened in 1826 for turnpike use. The bridge is constructed of ashlar sandstone and features a single arch over the river, along with one small flood arch on the south side. It has sloping parapets, with the eastern parapet ending in a stubby, round-topped circular pier at its northern end. The southern half of the bridge is privately owned.
