Cardiff Road Lodge at Belle Vue Park, including attached Gates & Wall

The Cardiff Road Lodge at Belle Vue Park is a two-storey building dating from the 19th century. The ground floor is constructed of rock-faced stone, while the upper floor features half-timbering and has a modern tiled roof. The main block has a gable facing south, with tile-hanging at the apex. On the first floor, there is a 4-light casement window that overhangs a 6-light window wrapping around the corner. To the right, there is a cross wing with a 3-light window at the eaves, and on the ground floor, a semi-circular archway leads to a glazed-in porch with a panelled door. The right return displays a tile-hung gable and a large stone chimney.

Attached to the lodge is a wall with gates and gatepiers. The large central entrance is flanked by gatepiers topped with cap stones and ball finials, featuring elaborate iron gates that display the Newport Borough Arms. On each side of the piers, there are smaller arched gateways, each with an iron gate. The wall continues to the right and curves forward to meet the park wall.
