Description
The Churchyard Cross near the Church of St. Mary the Virgin is made of sandstone blocks. It features four rebuilt square steps that diminish in size, supporting a square broached socket stone. The tall, tapering octagonal shaft, likely part of the Sedding restoration, carries a carved head that includes reliefs of the Virgin and Child, as well as the Crucifixion. This design is modeled after surviving medieval crosses in South Wales, such as the one at Llangan in the Vale of Glamorgan.
