Description
Nant-yr-yrch Farmhouse is a rubble-built farmhouse that is believed to have also functioned as a water mill. The walls are made of thin sandstone rubble, mostly covered in whitewash, and the roof is currently topped with corrugated sheet. At the front, there is one sandstone ashlar chimney on the side wall, along with modern brick chimneys on the gable ends of each range. The building is arranged in an L-shape, with the main range oriented roughly east-west and close to the lane, and a receding wing at the west end.
The south wall facing the lane has a sparse and irregular arrangement of windows, indicating different building phases or varying internal floor levels. Near the left corner, there is a blocked 2-light flush-mullioned window at ground-floor level. Close to the right corner, a small datestone at first-floor level bears a worn inscription that reads either "1695" or "1699." Between these features are three small openings at ground-floor level and two first-floor windows, one of which is a segmental-headed 2-light sliding sash. Near the west corner, there is an ashlar side-wall chimney, and the roof is hipped at that end. A large lean-to structure is attached to the east gable wall.
On the west return wall, there is a 12-pane sash window at ground-floor level, a 9-pane sash window above it, a segmental-headed doorway near the rear corner, and a small 2-light window above that. At the rear, the main range features one 2-light window on each floor, with the upper window appearing to be a sliding sash, and a segmental-headed doorway close to the angle with the wing. The west wing has one relatively large segmental 2-light sliding sash window on each floor. Additionally, there is an agricultural outbuilding attached to the north gable of this wing. The property has not been inspected.
