Description
The Stone Wellhouse opposite New Inn Farm is a disused holding tank, rather than a traditional well, located on a slope below a spring that originally supplied it. At the time of the survey, it was heavily overgrown with vegetation, making it almost invisible. The structure is built from coursed slabby sandstone rubble and has a square or rectangular plan, measuring approximately 3 to 4 meters on each side, with its front wall having fallen but the rest remaining intact. The steeply-pitched pyramidal roof rises to about 4 meters in height. Although inaccessible, the owner reported that the wellhouse features a vaulted roof and contains a tank that is approximately 2 meters deep.
