Description
Green Lane Cottage is a 19th-century cottage with an attached lean-to stable, reflecting the Georgian architectural style. The building is constructed of rubble stone and features a slate roof with a tile ridge and 20th-century end stacks. The window openings have flat skewback lintels made of stone voussoirs and shallow stone sills. The symmetrical west front has two storeys, with three openings on the first floor. The center opening is blind and inscribed with ‘Green Lane Cottage 1843’. On either side of this are 9-pane hornless sash windows. The ground floor includes a central entrance doorway with a boarded door and a small 20th-century wooden porch that has a monopitch slate roof. The doorhead is round arched, also with stone voussoirs. Flanking the entrance are 12-pane sash windows on each side. Attached to the left gable is a lean-to stable, which features a ground-floor boarded door with strap hinges and a small square boarded door leading to the upper pitching loft. To the far left is a second lean-to with boarded double doors for coach entry.
